Joining a new school community can be a big change. To help ease your family into our community we put together this resource. If there’s anything that we didn’t include, please reach out and we’ll answer your question right away!
Our Vision and Mission
Our Vision – Shoreline Christian students engaging this world with their gifts for God’s glory.
Our Mission – Shoreline Christian School is a community of people who desire to glorify God.
We connect learning to God’s story of restoration –
inspiring students to discover that they and all creation belong to God,
walking with them to develop the gifts God has given,
and engaging together in meaningful work in the classroom and community.
School Ownership
Shoreline Christian School is owned and governed by the Christian Education Society of Seattle, or Society for short. The Society is made up of parents and community members who care about Christian Education.
Every parent is encouraged to join the Society. Serving in the Society is a meaningful way to strengthen SCS for your own children and for future generations.

Pick Up and Drop Off
Before the school year starts, we will send out the pick up and drop off procedures for the year. But, most years you drive into the parking lot and drop your student off along the west side (playground) of the lot. Pickup for Elementary students is on the church steps, pickup for Secondary students is along the drop off area.
For Preschool and Pre-K families, you will park and walk your student to their classroom, where you will check them in.

School Events
There are a variety of events that happen throughout the school year. Most will be communicated well in advance, but some, like athletics, may change. The best place to find changes/updates for those is our School Events Page.
Parent Involvement
As a school owned by the families of the school, it makes sense that parents would want to be involved. There are many opportunities throughout the year and our PTF (Parent Teacher Fellowship), along with our Secondary Parent Support Squad, provide great ways to help out. Not sure how your gifts may fit in? Keep an eye on our weekly Charger News for ways to get involved.

Communications Channels
We communicate with families through a variety of formats. The first is our all school, weekly email, Charger News. We also use our Social Media (Instagram and Facebook) to promote events. Individual classes use Google Classroom. Elementary teachers use a combination of Google Classroom and Class Newsletters. Lastly, we use the FACTS system to communicate from the Office to groups of families.
Elementary Curriculum
Our Elementary Curriculum focuses on developing competency and curiosity for God’s world. We do this by using a selection of resources from trusted suppliers.
Science: Helping students discover God’s handiwork throughout creation. Our students receive instruction from FOSS Kits and learn Science concepts that are grade level appropriate.
Math: Discovering the order that God has placed in the world. As students grow, so to does the complexity of their Math instruction. From adding and patterns to fractions and graphing.
Social Studies: Students are introduced to concepts of history and the world. Through this, they place themselves in God’s creation.
Reading and Writing: A key to gaining knowledge from God’s word – our students learn the steps of reading all the way up to writing fiction and research papers in their Elementary instruction.
Bible: Woven throughout everything we teach, students also receive daily devotions, Bible stories, and weekly chapel services where we worship God. Our Bible-specific curriculum pulls from the Christian Schools International Bible curriculum.
Specialists: Each grade receives Tech, Art, Music, Gym, and Library instruction every week.
Secondary Curriculum
At the Secondary (Middle School and High School) levels, classes are broken down by subject matter and students are given the ability to select credits in order to guide their steps toward graduation.
Along with common classes, we offer Honors-level Math and Science. There is the option to add college credits through a partnership with Dordt University.
Highlights of the Secondary Curriculum:
Science: From Biology and Chemistry to Bioethics and Environmental Science, our Secondary students learn about the world God created and how we can be good stewards of his creation.
Math: Offering a standard Algebra > Geometry > Algebra 2 > Precalculus > Calculus track in addition a Financial Math to help students prepare for life.
Social Studies: Discovering the history of our world, how things became how they are today, and how we fit in it. Offering US and Washington State History, Civics, Modern History, and World Issues courses that dive deeper.
English: Through class discussions around famous texts, defending opinions, and writing essays, fiction, poetry, and longer form reports, students are able to come away with a full grasp of both literary history and strong writing skills.
Bible: In Secondary, Bible classes and weekly chapel services are the places where students can take ownership of their faith and determine how their lives will grow to reflect that. Not only do students survey the Bible as a whole, they learn how Creation, Fall, Redemption, and Renewal can apply and are reflected in their lives and the world.
Language: We offer on-campus Spanish as a way for students to explore another culture and gain competency in a new language. Additional languages available through online partnerships.
Electives: While our core classes provide a wonderful education, we allow for students to choose additional electives to deepen and enrich what they learn. Classes like – 3D Printing, Choir, Orchestra, Art, Advanced P.E., Audio Engineering, Computer Science, and more!
