At Shoreline Christian, students receive a Christ-centered, academically challenging education in a caring community. We are committed to partnering with students, parents, and host families to help international students succeed academically, socially, and personally.
We understand that moving to a new country and entering a new educational system can be exciting, but it can also come with many questions. Our goal is to make the admissions process as clear and supportive as possible. We are here to help guide you and your family throughout the process.

What To Expect
International students at SCS are fully integrated into our regular classes and school community. We do not offer separate ELL/ESL courses, so students must have sufficient English proficiency to participate successfully in their classes.
International students are expected to be:
- Academically prepared and willing to work hard
- Able to communicate effectively in English
- Supportive of the Christian environment and school policies
- Prepared to live with an approved host family or guardian
- Financially prepared for tuition and other school-related expenses
Our admissions process is designed to help us determine whether SCS is a good academic, social, and spiritual fit for each student.
Admission Requirements
Christian Commitment
At least one parent in the student’s family and/or the student’s host family must be a professing Christian.
Students must agree to follow SCS policies and contribute to a positive Christian atmosphere within the school community.
Host Family
International students must live with an approved host family providing adult supervision. Host family adults must be over 30 years of age, and English must be spoken in the host family’s home.
Before admission, SCS requires an in-person Zoom interview with the student, family, and host family.
If a student needs to change host families, the change must be approved by SCS in advance and include an interview with the student and prospective host family.
In accordance with SEVIS requirements, changes to a student’s address, phone number, or student status must be reported to the SCS registrar within 10 days.
Language
Students entering grades 6–12 must demonstrate sufficient English proficiency to succeed in SCS classes.
Accepted requirements include:
Middle School (Grades 6–8)
- TOEFL Junior: minimum score of 730
High School (Grades 9–12)
- TOEFL iBT: minimum score of 68
An IELTS score of 6.0 or higher may be submitted as an alternative.
Duolingo scores are not accepted.
English ability will also be evaluated through the admissions interview.
Academic Records & Preparation
Students must submit academic records from their current school for the previous two years, including standardized test scores when available.
International transcripts must be translated into English before they can be reviewed by the SCS admissions committee and faculty.
High school-level coursework completed outside the U.S. will be recorded on the SCS transcript as Pass rather than converted to standard letter grades.
Students should understand that SCS has an academically challenging curriculum and must be prepared to work hard.
Tutoring Requirement
All international students are required to participate in weekly private tutoring during their first quarter at SCS, at minimum.
Tutoring is an additional expense. Host families or guardians will assist students in finding a tutor, and SCS can provide recommendations when needed.
Financial Arrangements
International students may pay tuition using one of the following payment schedules:
- One annual payment
- Two semi-annual payments
- Four quarterly payments
The following expenses are billed separately from tuition:
- Tutoring
- Books
- Sports fees
- Other applicable school expenses
Withdrawal Policy
If a student withdraws after a semester has begun, the family is responsible for the full tuition for the semester from which the student withdraws.
Families should carefully consider this policy when making enrollment and travel plans.

Records from the student’s current school for the previous two years, including standardized test scores when available.
☐ Teacher / Head of School / Counselor Recommendation Forms
Two recommendations may be requested from appropriate school personnel.

☐ English Proficiency Results
Required for students in grades 6–12. See English Language Proficiency requirements above.
☐ Proof of Financial Responsibility
A current parent bank statement must be provided as evidence of financial responsibility. This is required for SEVIS purposes.

Accident and Health Insurance
Student Insurance is required for ALL I-20 Students
The plan provides accident and health insurance to our students from August 1 through June 30. This fee is assessed annually on a per-student basis and is due on or before August 3, 2026. Students staying in the US during the summer may extend their dates of coverage.
If a student purchases their own insurance plan, proof will need to be submitted prior to August 1, 2026.
Fees are updated annually. Fee information for the 2026-2027 school year will be provided prior to the start of the school year.
Payment Options
Payments may be made monthly (on a 10 month plan), quarterly, annually or semi-annually. All payments are processed through FACTS. Payment options are selected in the FACTS system.
A 3% discount to tuition is offered for accounts that are paid in full via FACTS before 8/18/26. (The 3% discount does not apply to the Capital Improvement Fee, Application Fee or Enrollment Fee.)
Bank ACH or credit card automatic withdraw can be set up in FACTS. Processing fees apply when using a credit card. Payments by credit card will no longer be accepted in the school office.
