Using Natural Curiosity to Fuel Learning
Children are natural question-askers. They want to know why, and how, and when. At Shoreline Christian School, we use all of that creative, inquisitive energy to help your child learn.
For students who are 5 years old before September 1st, we provide gentle routines, guided play, learning centers, Christian values, and more.
We would love to get to know your family and answer all of your questions.
Our Daily Schedule
Kindergarten Program
At Shoreline, our Kindergarten program runs five days a week from 8:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Children enjoy a mix of core subjects, activities, and enrichment classes, along with plenty of time to practice social skills by playing with their friends.
Daily Schedule
What does a Day in the Life of a Kindergartner at SCS look like? Below is a sample of your child’s classroom activities.
Throughout the week, students enjoy physical education and music appreciation classes twice per week and the following classes once per week:
Extended Care
For busy parents, our Extended Care program opens at 7:30 a.m. and closes at 5:30 p.m. Children enjoy the opportunity for extra time with their friends for outdoor play, crafts, and gymnasium activities.
An Environment Filled With Care
In Kindergarten, your child could still be learning to sit still at a desk, tie their shoes, or properly hold a pencil. All of that is perfectly natural. At Shoreline, we recognize that children learn at their own pace, when they feel safe and accepted.
Our Kindergartners flourish through:
CARE AND SUPPORT
Teachers offer individualized attention to students because we keep our classes small with an 18:1 student-teacher ratio. Plus, while on recess, students have the support of additional teachers and staff.
AN ACTIVE LEARNING APPROACH
Hands-on activities and experiments help students understand core subjects as they explore phonics, guided reading, penmanship, math, and science.
A STIMULATING ENVIRONMENT
We carefully designed everything from the playground to our learning centers, so your child will be encouraged to explore. Students play outside in nature where they can build a fairy house, climb a tree stump, and play tag among the trees. Inside, our classrooms are larger than average, so there is enough room for puzzles to be left out and completed, cozy stories together, imaginative play, and desk work.
MODELING KINDNESS
We hire teachers who desire to live like Jesus, showing patience and gentleness to our youngest learners. They set clear expectations, so students know what to expect and how to treat one another. We teach positive character traits and help students live them out authentically.

Community
When a Kindergarten student got into his car after the first day of school, his mom asked him, “How was your first day of school? What did you learn?” The boy, with joy in his voice, replied, “I learned Mrs. Ruffcorn loves me!”

The Shoreline Difference
Enriched Learning
We use a variety of curricula at Shoreline Christian School, including Tara West for math and literacy and hands-on science lessons from FOSS kits. In addition, students enjoy gym, music, art, and library time. All of our lessons are designed to create a strong academic and faith foundation.
At the Kindergarten level, core subject areas include:
Technology In the Classroom
Our technology teacher visits the Kindergarten classroom once a week and introduces students to coding and programming on iPads, which are available for each student. The technology teacher also guides students in using educational apps like Seesaw. Kindergarten students use the iPads for 30 minutes to an hour per week.
Providing a Safe Environment
At Shoreline, we take modern security precautions to keep your child and our staff members safe (we will tell you more about these safety measures on your tour). Thanks to small class sizes and experienced teachers, we also recognize and correct behavior among students so they learn to treat others with Christian love.

What’s one of your favorite things about Shoreline Christian School?
I think one of my favorite things about Shoreline Christian School is our whole-school Chapels. When I see high school and middle school students singing praise songs to our Lord alongside our littlest learners, I get a glimpse of what heaven must be like! I love that each teacher brings Bible truth into their instruction and that our children get to ask questions and dig deep into life lessons through the lens of God’s Word. We are here on earth on purpose and for a purpose. I love that we help students become the light God intends them to be!
See if We’re a Good Fit
We know you want a school that mirrors the values you’re teaching at home, and a tour gives you the chance to experience our school culture firsthand. We hope you’ll visit us soon.
