Welcome to Shoreline Christian School
SCS invites international students to join our rich, faith-based learning environment. We embrace the cultural diversity that international students bring to our community and want to partner with international families to provide an exceptional Christian education for your child. We encourage you to explore our website further to learn more about our history, academics, sports programs, and campus life to see if Shoreline Christian is a good fit for you.
Transitioning to a new country and educational system can be both exciting and challenging. Please know we are here to help you through the process. If you are interested in attending Shoreline Christian, we encourage you to apply to join our community. We can assist prospective students in finding English-speaking host families and tutors to help you succeed throughout your educational journey. For more information, contact Daniele Ott, International Student Coordinator/Principal Designated School Official at dott@shorelinechristian.org.
Admission Requirements
Christian Commitment
At least one parent in the student’s family and/or host family must be a professing Christian. The student must agree to follow school policies and uphold a Christian atmosphere.
Host Family
Students must live in a home with adult (over 30 years of age) supervision. English must be spoken in the host family’s home. An in-person Zoom interview with the student, family, and host family is required prior to admission. Host family changes must be pre-approved by the school and include an interview with the student and prospective host family. SEVIS requires that all changes (address, phone numbers, or student status) must be submitted to our registrar within 10 days of the change.
Language
Middle school and high school level students (grades 6-12) will be required to take a TOEFL test to assess the student’s reading comprehension and writing ability. For all grades, the student’s English language skills must be sufficient to allow for learning in a regular classroom setting. During school hours, students are required to speak English.
Academics
Transcripts from other countries must be translated prior to review by our admissions committee and faculty. Students must be willing to work hard as our curriculum is academically challenging. Tutors are available during the school day at an additional cost. It is recommended that students meet weekly with a tutor during their first school year at SCS. We will assist students and host families in finding tutoring and other resources. We do not offer special ESL classes.
Financial Arrangements
International students pay tuition in a one-time annual payment, semi-annual payments, or four quarterly payments. Tutoring, books, sports fees, and other applicable expenses are billed separately. Students who withdraw after a semester begins are required to pay full tuition for the full semester from which they withdraw.
Admissions Process
ADMISSIONS BREAKDOWN
The admissions process may take up to four weeks from the date the completed application and transcripts are received by the school. Prior to the interview, the following must be submitted:
After Submission
ADMISSIONS BREAKDOWN
The admissions team will review your completed application and contact the host family and/or parent to schedule your Zoom interview. Students and family are notified of admission decisions and an I-20 is issued. An I-20 is issued only if the student is admitted.
