Technology has been rapidly changing our world over the past ten years. It changes our lifestyles and work habits. It should also be changing our education system. Consistent technology integration in classrooms will better equip students for the life and jobs of their future.
 
One of the many ways technology has changed our world, is that it has put information at our fingertips.

Second Grade Iditarod: Dogs, Mushers, and Nancy's Notes

There are fourteen children in second grade, and Nancy Colón would have loved each one of them. They are a cheerful bunch, smart and sweet. They are hard workers who also enjoy being a little bit silly.

These children and I spend time together each day, doing our spelling, reading books, writing down ideas, practicing double digit addition. A lot of what we do follows Nancy’s plans. The children have learned about apples and our skeletal system and how to spell ‘because’. These lessons all come from her big binders of second grade activities.

Learning as Worship

In my first few weeks at Watson Groen Christian, I was introduced to Mins Reinsma; however, I really never got to know him until the day he showed up in my office. It was a hectic type of day filled with all the trivia that is administration. The office told me that someone from the church wanted to see me. There was that quick thought--Now what have I done?

Out on a Limb

Trees fill every corner of Northwest Washington. We are called “The Evergreen State,” after all. When I started teaching first grade at Shoreline Christian I was told to “teach something about trees.” Over the years I’ve developed curriculum for my fall science units about deciduous, evergreen, and Christmas trees. We also learn a verse every year that reminds us that God watches our growth. We are like trees. Read more >> about Out on a Limb
