Abby DeKoekkoek has been chosen as the Student of the Quarter for the 2nd quarter of 2013-2014 by the faculty of Shoreline Christian School. The emphasis second quarter was on leadership. Abby is characterized by the faculty as someone who “feels at home at Shoreline Christian School and cares about what happens around here. Her positive attitude about this school is infectious. She was elected Vice President of Student Council and is faithful with her peers and teachers and leads by example in the classroom, in sports and in music. She respects and supports others no matter what the circumstance.”
Her advice to underclassmen is not to be afraid to ask teachers for help and get involved with your classmates and the school. She says that you’re only in high school once so make the best of it; and procrastination will be the death of you.
Abby has been involved in many areas at Shoreline Christian School, including three years of National Honor Society and jazz band, four years of Shiloh and participation in three different sports. Her leadership shows through her “follow me and never give up” attitude and her servant heart shows through the many areas where she has volunteered.
Some of Abby’s favorite Shoreline Christian memories have been participating at the state competitions in three sports and “basically hanging out with the people at breaks and lunches.”
Abby plans to attend either Whitworth or Western Washington University and major in special education and either elementary education or early childhood education.
