Abby DeKoekkoek has been chosen as the Student of the Quarter for the 2nd quarter of 2013-2014 by the faculty of Shoreline Christian School. The emphasis second quarter was on leadership.

Our mission statement calls us to partner together (school, church, and home) to help our students develop their unique gifts and abilities. We want our students to explore all kinds of vocations and find one that fits best with their God-given gifts. Being a bit wiser and definitely older, I wish I could go back in time to thank some of the people who made an impact on who I am today. One of the people who taught me about student well-being is Ralph Honderd. Coach Honderd was my track coach my senior year at Calvin College. My college track career to that point was pretty non-descript.

One morning during my quiet time, I was struck with a thought: “Ten years ago I never would have dreamed that my kids would be attending a Christian private school!” I am an educator myself, having taught K-12 special education and was a middle school counselor for three years. I’m all about having a great education, so twelve years ago we chose a well-regarded public elementary school for my son Isaac, to begin kindergarten at.
This year, several new faces appeared on the Shoreline Christian campus. One of these was new third grade teacher, Cheryl Bogertman. Ms. Bogertman comes to us from New Jersey through Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
