Get to Know Ms. Bogertman

This year, several new faces appeared on the Shoreline Christian campus. One of these was new third grade teacher, Cheryl Bogertman. Ms. Bogertman comes to us from New Jersey through Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Take a few moments to read the interview below to learn more about Ms. Bogertman, and be sure to find a way to meet her if you haven't already!

Q: What brought you to the Shoreline Christian School community?

3rd Grade teaching Laura Ingalls Wilder

I first learned about Shoreline Christian in the spring of 2012, when I heard about the opportunity to complete a semester of student teaching here. Though I wasn't able to student teach here in Seattle, I ended up with the opportunity to move out here to TEACH 3rd grade! Wow, God knew what he had in store for me. I am very grateful for how welcoming and encouraging everyone has been.

Q: What do you look forward to most this year?

I am looking forward to the Pioneer unit we are starting together. We will learn about the lives of the pioneers, and how pioneers crossed the country. I am also looking forward to the History fair; I can't wait to see what the final projects will look like!

Q: What has been your favorite thing so far this school year?

My favorite thing so far this year has been the opportunity to get to know my students. I really enjoyed the animal unit the 3rd graders did this year. We created dioramas and wrote in-depth animal reports. We were able to take a field trip to the Woodland Park Zoo where we learned more about animals and their habitats. It was great!

Q: What is something about yourself that most people don’t know?

I can't wait for the last day of school, not because I don't enjoy my kiddos, but because it's my birthday! A double reason to celebrate!

Q: What is your favorite hobby or pastime?

I love reading books and listening to music in my free time. I also enjoy spending time outside in God's creation!
